If you’re a home user looking for the kind of monitor your office might ordinarily provide, or an office administrator looking for a well-specced and inexpensive monitor with which to furnish your employees, the Dell P2422HE is a good choice. A few permanently bright or dark pixels are considered normal by industry standards. The exact number of pixels that are allowed varies depending on the monitor. Performance-wise, the bad news continues. The P2422HE tops out at a peak brightness of 221cd/m² (199cd/m² in Default mode), which is lower than Dell’s quoted peak and substantially worse than rivals such as the BenQ GW2485TC. The result is simply that, in bright conditions, the P2422HE’s panel is harder to see than I would have liked.
Where you put your monitor is almost as important as what model you buy. The monitor should be directly in front of you, at an arm’s length away (between 20-40 inches from your eyes).The top edge of the screen at eye level when you are sitting comfortably. You may need to adjust your chair height or the height of the monitor to achieve this. Monitor will not support the YCbCr color format when a USB Type-C to HDMI dongle is connected from the monitor to the PC.

When changing the monitor’s resolution from Windows Display Settings, the image quality may not be good. Due to different video formats (aspect ratio) of DVDs and videos, the monitor may display in screen.

Dell markets the P2422HE as a “hub monitor”, and that’s I’d say that was pretty much on the money. This monitor covers every conceivable base and a few more for good measure. I’m particularly fond of the daisy-chaining feature, which I pushed to its limits by connecting the P2422HE to the 34in ultrawide Huawei MateView GT (with no difficulties whatsoever, I should add). When you close and then reopen the lid on a laptop, the Connecting and Configuring Displays (CCD) feature in Windows automatically reverts the display mode to the last active selection. This behavior is by design in Microsoft Windows. Horizontal stripes when watching online videos using Microsoft Movies and TV app, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft EdgeConnect the USB upstream cable (shipped with your monitor) to an appropriate USB 3.0 port on your computer. Display mode changes from "Second screen only" to "Extended mode" after opening and closing the laptop LCD. Some combinations of USB Type-C to HDMI dongle and video or graphics card (GPU) are not compatible to support the YCbCr color format. If you observe any screen anomalies, you should isolate the monitor by performing the built-in diagnostics (BID).
